Well it's kinda obvious that we are married now! We are slowly but surely getting settled in to our new house and getting things unboxed and finding a place for them! Galen poured our sidewalk for us last weekend! It looks great! We also had our hometown reception last weekend too. It was great to see everybody and thank you to everyone who helped! One of our friends we met in Ireland, Phoebe, flew all the way from New York to come see us! It was great seeing her again! Galen has been our "remodeler" and he got a job at the Fort Smith public schools as their maintenance man so on his days off he has been coming over here and helping finish things up. We still have to get our storm doors put up, landscaping done, build a privacy fence, light on the front porch and they are going to install another cabinet unit in the kitchen on the other side of our fridge! I am still driving to Bentonville twice a week for class and I am still working in Fayetteville. After the semester is over, I will quit my job and be done with all that driving! I would like to give a shout out to our groomsman, Jourdan, today his birthday! Happy Birthday Jourdan!

21 days left!
Well just 21 days until the wedding! I had a wonderful wedding shower last weekend! I want to thank everyone who came and Lyndi and Lori who hosted and Aunt Naomi for letting us use her home for the shower! It was a beautiful shower!! David and I are driving to Texas tomorrow morning to go get our marriage license (on Monday), meet the pastor and let him see the hotel we will be getting married at. I had a wonderful birthday too, thank you all for the birthday wishes! David even drove up to Fayetteville to see me on my birthday!
He is doing really well at his new job and he has already sold two cars so far! He is primarily a salesman but has a couple of other jobs like putting the inventory on to the website so the customers can see images of the cars online too. I was supposed to go get my hair done by a family friend after my shower last weekend but she forgot about our appointment (since her shop is closed on Saturdays normally) and we are going to reschedule. She also said that if she could make it work, she would like to come to Texas for the wedding and do my hair for me! We have also decided to move in to Aunt Naomi's house (that she used to live in with Uncle Charles then turned it into a rent house after she moved) that she has been remodeling for over a year now! Her and Galen are still doing remodeling work on the outside but she told us we could go ahead and move in so we would have a place when we get back from our wedding. We are very blessed to have her in the family and give us that offer! We love you Aunt Naomi!! In the mean time we have been doing some shopping for a fridge, washer/dryer and lawn mower too! I am still in the process of packing things up so please continue to save your boxes for me if you can!! I hope you all have a great weekend!!

29 Days until the wedding
Well the deadline for RSVP's have passed but several have still not RSVP'd. I can take any late RSVP's until the last day of February but after that the menu order's for the reception cannot change.
David is doing really well at his first week of work. He almost sold a car Wednesday! He got all of our travel information this week from the resort that included 2 flip flop luggage tags, our flight vouchers and the information we give to the resort when we get there!
I was carrying a bunch of boxes from car to my apartment yesterday when two mormons stopped to help me. They gave me their phone number and told me to call them when I get ready to move and they would be glad to help. I think once they realize how much stuff I have to move that "glad" part might just change!
My mom finally found a dress to wear to the wedding that she likes at the Dress Barn.
David is off work on Monday the 28th so I think we are going to go to Texas that weekend and get our marriage license! While we are there we will meet the pastor too.
My mom paid for the cake this week too so we have the cake paid for as well as the photographer, and the venue. Now we just have to pay for the reception dinner and the linen rentals.
I hope you all have a great weekend and I hope to see you at the shower!!
Love,
Kala

30 days left!
Well mom and I were getting concerned cause we made the entire payment for the photographer a couple weeks ago but it had never gone through. I called the photography company Monday and she said that they were in the process of switching "owners" or something. But fortunately we got an email today saying they had received our payment! So we have now officially paid for the photography.
I would like to ask that any of you save any boxes that would be ideal for me to move with or any packing supplies (bubble wrap, newspapers, etc) that can help package my glass plates, cups, etc. I looked at my schedule today and I need to be about 95% moved by March 12 at the absolute latest. The week before the wedding is going to crazy for me. Monday I am busy from 8am-7pm with work/class, Tuesday I have a chemistry test Wednesday I am busy from 8am-7pm with work/class, Wednesday I have an anatomy test and Thursday Asa and I are flying to TX. My lease ends March 28 but we don't fly back to Dallas from Jamaica until March 25 so it would probably be the 27 before I could be back up to Fayetteville so I def need to get most everything moved by that date. The only thing is that I am booked literally every single weekend from now until April 2nd except for next weekend 2/26. Which I will probably try to go to Fort Smith to see my family for my bday weekend.
So far David is liking his job but I think it's tiring on him at first. It's a lot of info for him all at once but he is picking it all up pretty fast.
Asa is spending the night with me Friday night and we are going to pack a little and then go to Fort Smith Saturday morning for my wedding shower at Aunt Naomi's. If there is anyone that didn't get an invitation and would like to come, you are welcome to.
I would like to give a shout out to a couple of friends! Today is my bridesmaids, Lillie's birthday! Happy Birthday Lils! I would also like to congratulate our mutual friend that we met in Ireland, Kim, on her acceptance to two different PhD programs (sociology). One in MO that is offering her a fellowship and OU which offering her a full ride. Congrats Kim!
Enjoy your evening while I get back to studying Chemistry!!! Love you all!!!!!!!!!!

Valentines Day
Happy Valentines Day everyone! This is our first Valentines Day we have not been able to spend with each other. We never bother much to go out cause the restaurants are always so crowded. I got off work and was given instructions by David to be at my apartment around 7pm. There was a knock on my door and sure enough, he ordered me a heart shaped pizza and cinnamon sticks like we always do!
I signed my intent to vacate form last week and will officially be out of my apartment by March 28. My first wedding shower is this weekend too! I am getting excited!
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and have a good rest of the week!

Come Thou Fount
I loved the last song that I sent to you...but the Scriptures in this video will touch your heart... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG5ZhFN1DXk
This One Goes Out To You!
Our marriage counselor has reminded us that as we prepare for the big day and as us women "dream of that big day" our whole lives we often forget that we are preparing for marriage and not just that "one day"... our marriage counselor, Matt Stewart (of CrossChurch in Springdale) has been such a blessing to us. He has taught us so much about how our marriage is based on God rather than a 50/50 business deal "you do this, and I will do this" relationship. So as we prepare for the final details of this day I have dreamed as since I was a kid... let's remember God's role in our marriage and bring him as the center and ask Him to bless us and all of those around us. I want to thank all of my family and friends who have been such a great and supportive role in this engagement process and as the end is near I know now I could have never made it without your support. But most of all as we have learned to include God in our marriage as first, our spouse as second, our spouses feelings as third, and everything else will follow including fiances, the specific number of children we want, the house we have dreamed of (which may eventually become more realistic rather than materialistic) etc. I want to leave you all with a link to a song that is very special to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwZ_oFCqfG0
Have a wonderful week, may God bless until we meet again.

Kara
I know this is not wedding news but I want to take a moment to dedicate some love and comfort to Kara. She is my bridesmaid in Texas for those of you who are not familiar. Today it has been three years... the birthday of Tyler...the baby she lost at 18 weeks. She suffered such a loss but she has since then had another baby, Gunner. She is so blessed with a peace I could not imagine having when dealing with that kind of loss. I look up to her so much and she is so strong to carry on like she has and to not fall into the ways of our world and "blame God." she has taken her painful experience and grown closer to God and not turned against Him I am so proud of her and respect her so much for that. I love you so much Kara and Tyler... I'm so sorry for your loss. It hurts me so bad that you ever had to deal with that kind of pain. I hope this day was not too hard on you. I love you very much and you have many people praying that you have peace upon you today. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
Happy Birthday Tyler: Jeramiah 1:5 ""Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations."

42 days left!
We have received two wedding gifts this past week. Our groomsman, Michael May gave us a clock that his grandfather hand crafted for us. A lady from church also mailed us a card and a cash gift. We are very grateful for both. We only have one session left of our marriage counseling, we are kinda sad about it. We have both really enjoyed it. Our last session will be Tuesday. Because of the weather, David has not yet been able to move to Fort Smith yet but he will probably after our last session if the weather does not get any worse (but according to the weather man today, it is supposed to). His truck handles the ice really well in town but I would be afraid for him to make it all the way to Fort Smith with all the hills, curves, and bridges without a constant guardrail on those curves and all the semi's on that road too. I'm not sure how the interstate looks honestly but the roads up here are mostly ice and and slush. There are only a couple roads that ever got completely cleared. I did manage to fall down the bottom flight of stairs Monday because of the ice...luckily the worst thing was just a bunch of bruises and no broken bones so I'm doing alright. I am going to fill out my intent to vacate my apartment form this week and I will be moving out at the latest March 28 but I may move right before the wedding since we don't get back from our honeymoon until March 25 but it will probably be the 26 before I could get back up to Fayeteville and that would only leave me two days to pack and I would still have to go to class and work on those days too. I'm not entirely sure about all that though we will probably just play it by ear. There are still quite a few people who have not RSVP'd, dont forget you can do it online by clicking this link: http://www.mywedding.com/apps/public/mysite/rsvp.php?s=kaladavid Well I hope you all stay safe in this crazy weather and stay warm too!

48 Days Left!
Well only 48 days left! I am still working on the wedding music but thanks to Lacy I have a good part of it figured out and Brad (our old neighbor and friend) brought me a bunch of music the other day (126 songs actually!).
Due to some miscommunications, we are not renting the bridal suite for just 3/18, we are renting a smaller suite for two nights for the bridesmaids to sleep in on 3/18 and 3/19. Kathryn has also rented the groomsmen room for both 3/18 and 3/19 as well so the entire bridal party has a place to sleep the night before and the night of the wedding.
As of right now the plan is that we are moving back to Fort Smith. David will be moving within a week or so to work for his dad. I will stay up here in my apartment until March (after the honeymoon). I only have class on Monday and Wednesdays up here so after we get married I will move back to Fort Smith as well. David will be staying with his parents while he is down there and then once we get married we will stay with one of our parents after we have get married for a couple of months until we have enough money to possibly buy a house. We are thinking about possibly buying my Aunt Naomi's house in Fort Smith that she has spent a long time remodeling and fixing up. It is gorgeous. She used to live in that house several years ago and I have a lot of memories in that house so it would be really special to have that as our home if everything works out as we would like.
We are still doing our marriage counseling weekly and I really like it. I think we only have a couple weeks left of our counseling. We hated to do it, but we told him that we needed to try to reduce the amount of sessions since David would be moving but he said that wasn't a big deal. We are just going to cover the same amount of material as planned but just in a shorter time.
I am not sure what all I have told you but I wanted to remind you that the family wedding shower in Fort Smith is February 19, my friends wedding shower in Fayetteville is March 5, and my bachelorette party is March 11 (or maybe 12 whichever day is the Saturday).
Lacy is going to start working on making the place card holders for the tables. I think she is going to make them out of polymer clay and brush them with a metallic powder to give it a sterling silver look.
As of right now only 18 people have RSVP'd for the wedding. I am still working on making the menu decisions but it is important that you RSVP so that you have a plated dinner. I want to make sure that everyone who comes has a plate! As of right now the menu option is narrowed down to either chicken with season vegetables and salad or chicken fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli, and a salad which is cheaper and may work better with my budget but I have a feeling that the herbed chicken would better suit a general taste of everyone. You can RSVP right here by clicking this link: http://www.mywedding.com/apps/public/mysite/rsvp.php?s=kaladavid .
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Update
I don't have a whole lot of information to update yall with but I have a little. First Asa has confirmed the bachelorette party date for Saturday March 12. I have also passed along my wedding nightmares to Asa! She dreamed I was in my wedding dress in the kitchen doing dishes and everyone was waiting on me to walk down the aisle but I wouldn't stop cooking and doing dishes! haha Kara had a thought the other day, my mom reserved the bridal suite for Friday March 18 only. We didn't think about checkout time being at noon and the wedding is at 6pm so we would have no where to get ready. So I think we are going to get 1 smaller room for two nights instead. I want to encourage everyone to visit http://www.mywedding.com/kaladavid/ as a travel guide for the wedding guests. I have listed hotel information, shopping info, things to do, restaurants, all the specific wedding info (location, time, wedding events such as bridal showers, etc). Pretty much anything you need to know about the wedding is on that site. I also want to encourage guests to start thinking about carpooling. Ryan, our usher who lives in Fayetteville, is willing to drive and split gas. He can fit one more passenger in his car if anyone is interested let him know. If anyone else is willing to be a driver let me know. Asa and I are flying out Thursday night from Tulsa to Dallas so we won't have vehicles there. If we do for sure end up getting a hotel room for 2 nights, the bridesmaids are welcome to stay in that room on the night of wedding because David and I have a hotel reserved downtown Fort Worth at the Courtyard Marriot. I also want to remind everyone again to be sure to RSVP to the wedding if you are coming so you have a plated dinner. I think Brett and Lillie have set their date to January of 2012 so congratulations again to them! I hope you all have a great week.

Wedding Planning
I wanted to let those of you who will be at the hotel decorating for the wedding know something. I am creating a booklet in advance that is very detailed with pictures, diagrams, labels, etc. I do not want you to take offense to my big booklet but the wedding nightmares have started occurring more frequently. The other night I dreamed that because things were not prepared properly, the guests were seated for two hours before I even walked down the aisle, my dress was red instead of white, my photographer didn't show up, my florist got all the wrong flowers, and no one played the music I was supposed to walk down the aisle to and I was crying as I was walking down the aisle. This was all in one dream and I have dreams like this all the time! So for my own peace of mind I am creating this booklet but don't take offense by it! We had our first marriage counseling session last week and it went well and we have another one in the morning. I am still working on the menu right now, I am trying to match the survey answers and budget and everything. Everyone should have their invitations by now (except for those who experienced my number dyslexia firsthand and yours should arrive soon). Again, I want to stress the importance of your RSVP if you are coming so that you do for sure have a plate. You can RSVP here if you have received a wedding invitation: http://www.mywedding.com/apps/public/mysite/rsvp.php?s=kaladavid I still have to get wedding music, punch recipes, get a fancy hanger for my dress to hang on that will look good in pictures, pay the photographer, pay the venue, pay the baker, pay the linen lady, finalize menu plan, figure out some issues with where to hide the cake during the ceremony, make wedding day appointments (makeup, nails, bridal lunch) decide on hair style and that's all I can currently think of at the moment. I hope you all have a great week!

RSVP
All wedding invitations have been sent out. Please be sure to RSVP. I have to have a for sure head count on how many will attend since we are having a dinner reception. If you do not RSVP there will not be a plate for you. We are still trying to decide what to do for the kids dinner. Either thinking that someone can run to McDonalds and get them all a happy meal or see if the chef can fix a chicken strip dinner and macaroni for the kids or something too. If you have any suggestions on that please let me know! I put the deposit down on my linen and chair rentals this week too. :)

Wedding Shower
Kim is throwing me a wedding shower for friends on March 5 in Fayetteville. The family wedding shower will be February 19 in Fort Smith.
January 10 2011
David and I went to Men's Warehouse Friday and got his and Brett's tux ordered and any of the groomsmen can go order their tuxes and put a $20 deposit down. You can return your tuxes at any Men's Warehouse (They are due back Sunday March 20) so you may want to return them to one there in Texas. I also want to encourage everyone to visit our wedding website http://www.mywedding.com/kaladavid/ for hotels, things to do, restaurants, specific wedding related events (bridal showers, reception, rehearsal, etc) and start figuring out any travel plans and you might also want to try to start figuring out any carpool plans. I am flying out Thursday March 18 (I think Asa is going to as well) and I know Asa has Spring Break plans for that following week and will be going to Florida after the wedding. Last I heard, Michael was also planning on flying out of Dallas for a ski trip (I think) after the wedding as well. I don't know about anyone else though. All the wedding invitations have been mailed so be looking for those to arrive this week. :) I hope you all have a great week and stay safe in this weather!

Rehearsal
Rehearsal plans have officially been made.
Rehearsal - 6pm on March 18
Rehearsal dinner- 7:30pm March 18 at The Jalapeno Tree
Wedding - 6pm on March 19.
Wedding day for bridesmaids:
I would also like to thank Kim (our friend we met in Ireland) who wants to throw me a wedding shower up here in Fayetteville. Thanks Kim :-)
David went to Fort Smith earlier this week and met with our baker (Larry at Confectionately Yours in Fort Smith) and asked some questions for me. Our biggest concern was if Larry dropped the cake off the day before we had no way of storing the cake. But Larry told David that he has a very sturdy way of traveling with the cake that has a rod that goes in through the bottom of the cake to keep it from moving while traveling and his trailer is cold. He has transported a 5 tier cake from Fort Smith to Austin before over bumps, construction, etc and the cake didn't move. He said the way Ace of Cakes transports their cakes is nothing compared to the way he does. That made me feel a lot better because I was actually starting to worry about that because on that show they usually just throw the cakes in the back and hope it doesn't crash. But anyway, Larry is taking the cake to his sister's house in Keller and she has a fridge big enough for it and then he is will bring it to the hotel about an hour or two before the ceremony.
Rehearsal - 6pm on March 18
Rehearsal dinner- 7:30pm March 18 at The Jalapeno Tree
Wedding - 6pm on March 19.
Wedding day for bridesmaids:
- Approx around 11am: After we get up and get ready we will go to brunch at Mimi's Cafe
- Approx around 12:30pm Go to the Hulen mall where I will get my makeup done at the Estee Lader makeup counter at Dillards. If you want to get your makeup done at Dillards be sure to call a different counter and get an appointment other wise there won't be enough time. These makeup sessions should be free but you might want to get a trial run done at your Dillards at home to make sure you like what you are getting
- Those who want to get their nails done, there is a salon in the mall as well that you can get your nails done while we are getting our makeup done.
- Florist arrives at 3pm
- Start getting ready at 4pm
- Photographer arrives around 4 or 4:30pm
- Cake will arrive around 4 or 5pm
I would also like to thank Kim (our friend we met in Ireland) who wants to throw me a wedding shower up here in Fayetteville. Thanks Kim :-)

We've been engaged for a year!
Well it was a year ago today that David asked me to marry him! We had a great Christmas together and are having a lot of fun trying to figure out things for the wedding and after the wedding.
I haven't even realized that I am on Christmas break. I have been going 100mph the entire break. I think I have actually been busier during the break than during the semester I'm just not doing "academic" work. I drove to Kara's the day after Christmas and we met with my photographer for the first time, finalized my flower plans and paid for the flowers, met with the linen lady, did a trial run of my makeup, and went back to the Hilton to figure out some decorating arrangements. Lacy came with us to the hotel and the two of us ended up staying after Kara left. We drug out all the chairs out of their event rooms into the foyer (Where the ceremony will take place) and set up the entire ceremony to make sure it would all work. We also figured out how to arrange the ceremony if the weather is nice and we can have it outside. I really like my photography she is really nice and has some amazing portfolios. She is actually taking Emmit Smith's baby's pictures and doing their baby announcement. Here is her website if you want to look at her work http://jennyleighphotography.com/ . I dropped off all my vases to my florist (she has a storage rooms he said she would store them for me) and she set up a vase to show me how it will sorta look. I am really excited to have the flowers done. She also gave me an aromatherapy "be calm" bridal kit with a dried hydrangea corsage to show me how I can dry my bouquet. I have also started a travel guide brochure for the guests who are not familiar with the area that includes restaurant stops along the way, emergency numbers, maps, clean restroom stops, etc that I will be handing out to the guests. I began writing down all the "instructions" for those who will be decorating the day of the wedding while I am getting ready. Lacy's mom, LouAnn, made my veil while we were down there and I brought that back home with me so Asa and I can start trying out my hair with my veil and see how we want to do it. We will be mailing the invitations this week so be looking for those to come. I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years.
