48 Days Left!

Well only 48 days left! I am still working on the wedding music but thanks to Lacy I have a good part of it figured out and Brad (our old neighbor and friend) brought me a bunch of music the other day (126 songs actually!).
Due to some miscommunications, we are not renting the bridal suite for just 3/18, we are renting a smaller suite for two nights for the bridesmaids to sleep in on 3/18 and 3/19. Kathryn has also rented the groomsmen room for both 3/18 and 3/19 as well so the entire bridal party has a place to sleep the night before and the night of the wedding.
As of right now the plan is that we are moving back to Fort Smith. David will be moving within a week or so to work for his dad. I will stay up here in my apartment until March (after the honeymoon). I only have class on Monday and Wednesdays up here so after we get married I will move back to Fort Smith as well. David will be staying with his parents while he is down there and then once we get married we will stay with one of our parents after we have get married for a couple of months until we have enough money to possibly buy a house. We are thinking about possibly buying my Aunt Naomi's house in Fort Smith that she has spent a long time remodeling and fixing up. It is gorgeous. She used to live in that house several years ago and I have a lot of memories in that house so it would be really special to have that as our home if everything works out as we would like.
We are still doing our marriage counseling weekly and I really like it. I think we only have a couple weeks left of our counseling. We hated to do it, but we told him that we needed to try to reduce the amount of sessions since David would be moving but he said that wasn't a big deal. We are just going to cover the same amount of material as planned but just in a shorter time.
I am not sure what all I have told you but I wanted to remind you that the family wedding shower in Fort Smith is February 19, my friends wedding shower in Fayetteville is March 5, and my bachelorette party is March 11 (or maybe 12 whichever day is the Saturday).
Lacy is going to start working on making the place card holders for the tables. I think she is going to make them out of polymer clay and brush them with a metallic powder to give it a sterling silver look.
As of right now only 18 people have RSVP'd for the wedding. I am still working on making the menu decisions but it is important that you RSVP so that you have a plated dinner. I want to make sure that everyone who comes has a plate! As of right now the menu option is narrowed down to either chicken with season vegetables and salad or chicken fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli, and a salad which is cheaper and may work better with my budget but I have a feeling that the herbed chicken would better suit a general taste of everyone.  You can RSVP right here by clicking this link: http://www.mywedding.com/apps/public/mysite/rsvp.php?s=kaladavid .
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Update

I don't have a whole lot of information to update yall with but I have a little. First Asa has confirmed the bachelorette party date for Saturday March 12. I have also passed along my wedding nightmares to Asa! She dreamed I was in my wedding dress in the kitchen doing dishes and everyone was waiting on me to walk down the aisle but I wouldn't stop cooking and doing dishes! haha Kara had a thought the other day, my mom reserved the bridal suite for Friday March 18 only. We didn't think about checkout time being at noon and the wedding is at 6pm so we would have no where to get ready. So I think we are going to get 1 smaller room for two nights instead. I want to encourage everyone to visit http://www.mywedding.com/kaladavid/ as a travel guide for the wedding guests. I have listed hotel information, shopping info, things to do, restaurants, all the specific wedding info (location, time, wedding events such as bridal showers, etc). Pretty much anything you need to know about the wedding is on that site. I also want to encourage guests to start thinking about carpooling. Ryan, our usher who lives in Fayetteville, is willing to drive and split gas. He can fit one more passenger in his car if anyone is interested let him know. If anyone else is willing to be a driver let me know. Asa and I are flying out Thursday night from Tulsa to Dallas so we won't have vehicles there. If we do for sure end up getting a hotel room for 2 nights, the bridesmaids are welcome to stay in that room on the night of wedding because David and I have a hotel reserved downtown Fort Worth at the Courtyard Marriot. I also want to remind everyone again to be sure to RSVP to the wedding if you are coming so you have a plated dinner. I think Brett and Lillie have set their date to January of 2012 so congratulations again to them! I hope you all have a great week.

Wedding Planning

I wanted to let those of you who will be at the hotel decorating for the wedding know something. I am creating a booklet in advance that is very detailed with pictures, diagrams, labels, etc. I do not want you to take offense to my big booklet but the wedding nightmares have started occurring more frequently. The other night I dreamed that because things were not prepared properly, the guests were seated for two hours before I even walked down the aisle, my dress was red instead of white, my photographer didn't show up, my florist got all the wrong flowers, and no one played the music I was supposed to walk down the aisle to and I was crying as I was walking down the aisle. This was all in one dream and I have dreams like this all the time! So for my own peace of mind I am creating this booklet but don't take offense by it! We had our first marriage counseling session last week and it went well and we have another one in the morning. I am still working on the menu right now, I am trying to match the survey answers and budget and everything. Everyone should have their invitations by now (except for those who experienced my number dyslexia firsthand and yours should arrive soon). Again, I want to stress the importance of your RSVP if you are coming so that you do for sure have a plate. You can RSVP here if you have received a wedding invitation: http://www.mywedding.com/apps/public/mysite/rsvp.php?s=kaladavid  I still have to get wedding music, punch recipes, get a fancy hanger for my dress to hang on that will look good in pictures, pay the photographer, pay the venue, pay the baker, pay the linen lady, finalize menu plan, figure out some issues with where to hide the cake during the ceremony, make wedding day appointments (makeup, nails, bridal lunch) decide on hair style and that's all I can currently think of at the moment. I hope you all have a great week!

RSVP

All wedding invitations have been sent out. Please be sure to RSVP. I have to have a for sure head count on how many will attend since we are having a dinner reception. If you do not RSVP there will not be a plate for you. We are still trying to decide what to do for the kids dinner. Either thinking that someone can run to McDonalds and get them all a happy meal or see if the chef can fix a chicken strip dinner and macaroni for the kids or something too. If you have any suggestions on that please let me know! I put the deposit down on my linen and chair rentals this week too. :)

Wedding Shower

Kim is throwing me a wedding shower for friends on March 5 in Fayetteville. The family wedding shower will be February 19 in Fort Smith.

January 10 2011

David and I went to Men's Warehouse Friday and got his and Brett's tux ordered and any of the groomsmen can go order their tuxes and put a $20 deposit down. You can return your tuxes at any Men's Warehouse (They are due back Sunday March 20) so you may want to return them to one there in Texas. I also want to encourage everyone to visit our wedding website http://www.mywedding.com/kaladavid/  for hotels, things to do, restaurants, specific wedding related events (bridal showers, reception, rehearsal, etc) and start figuring out any travel plans and you might also want to try to start figuring out any carpool plans. I am flying out Thursday March 18 (I think Asa is going to as well) and I know Asa has Spring Break plans for that following week and will be going to Florida after the wedding. Last I heard, Michael was also planning on flying out of Dallas for a ski trip (I think) after the wedding as well. I don't know about anyone else though. All the wedding invitations have been mailed so be looking for those to arrive this week. :) I hope you all have a great week and stay safe in this weather!

  • Florist arrives at 3pm

  • Cake will arrive around 4 or 5pm

I would also like to thank Kim (our friend we met in Ireland) who wants to throw me a wedding shower up here in Fayetteville. Thanks Kim :-)

David went to Fort Smith earlier this week and met with our baker (Larry at Confectionately Yours in Fort Smith) and asked some questions for me. Our biggest concern was if Larry dropped the cake off the day before we had no way of storing the cake. But Larry told David that he has a very sturdy way of traveling with the cake that has a rod that goes in through the bottom of the cake to keep it from moving while traveling and his trailer is cold. He has transported a 5 tier cake from Fort Smith to Austin before over bumps, construction, etc and the cake didn't move. He said the way Ace of Cakes transports their cakes is nothing compared to the way he does. That made me feel a lot better because I was actually starting to worry about that because on that show they usually just throw the cakes in the back and hope it doesn't crash. But anyway, Larry is taking the cake to his sister's house in Keller and she has a fridge big enough for it and then he is will bring it to the hotel about an hour or two before the ceremony.

We've been engaged for a year!

Well it was a year ago today that David asked me to marry him! We had a great Christmas together and are having a lot of fun trying to figure out things for the wedding and after the wedding.
From my florist
I haven't even realized that I am on Christmas break. I have been going 100mph the entire break. I think I have actually been busier during the break than during the semester I'm just not doing "academic" work. I drove to Kara's the day after Christmas and we met with my photographer for the first time, finalized my flower plans and paid for the flowers, met with the linen lady, did a trial run of my makeup, and went back to the Hilton to figure out some decorating arrangements. Lacy came with us to the hotel and the two of us ended up staying after Kara left. We drug out all the chairs out of their event rooms into the foyer (Where the ceremony will take place) and set up the entire ceremony to make sure it would all work. We also figured out how to arrange the ceremony if the weather is nice and we can have it outside. I really like my photography she is really nice and has some amazing portfolios. She is actually taking Emmit Smith's baby's pictures and doing their baby announcement. Here is her website if you want to look at her work http://jennyleighphotography.com/   .  I dropped off all my vases to my florist (she has a storage rooms he said she would store them for me) and she set up a vase to show me how it will sorta look.  I am really excited to have the flowers done. She also gave me an aromatherapy "be calm" bridal kit with a dried hydrangea corsage to show me how I can dry my bouquet. I have also started a travel guide brochure for the guests who are not familiar with the area that includes restaurant stops along the way, emergency numbers, maps, clean restroom stops, etc that I will be handing out to the guests. I began writing down all the "instructions" for those who will be decorating the day of the wedding while I am getting ready. Lacy's mom, LouAnn, made my veil while we were down there and I brought that back home with me so Asa and I can start trying out my hair with my veil and see how we want to do it. We will be mailing the invitations this week so be looking for those to come. I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years.
